AT&T has unwrapped two new 3G LaptopConnect devices namely the AT&T USBConnect Turbo from LG and the AT&T USBConnect Velocity from Option. The Turbo and Velocity let users stay connected on their laptop while on the go with the nation’s fastest 3G network.
The Velocity, a GPS-enabled LaptopConnect device from AT&T with built-in GPS functionality enables easier location-based applications. Option brings to users a free software application, the Option GPS Control Panel, which leverages location-enabled sites like Yahoo! Maps and Bing for directions as well as local POIs.
“Velocity and Turbo both offer a first for AT&T: our first GPS enabled LaptopConnect device and our first LaptopConnect device from LG,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “In addition to being compatible with our latest HSPA technology, the two devices let AT&T customers get more done while on the go. Option GPS Control Panel is available for download at the Option support web page. In addition, through TeleNav Track LITE and Xora GPS Locator from AT&T, customers can add tracking and location awareness and improve response time by effortlessly locating the closest worker to a service call.
The Turbo is AT&T’s first LaptopConnect device from LG, sporting a compact, lightweight design. Turbo’s HSPA 7.2 capability ensures a high speed Internet connection which allows users to meet their professional and personal computing needs while away from office or home. Both devices come with an integrated microSD card slot offering portable storage devices that help users carry data at their fingertips.
Both Turbo and Velocity will be available online and at AT&T stores nationwide. AT&T USBConnect Turbo will be available for free after a mail-in rebate and a new two-year DataConnect contract of minimum $35 a month. Users can get their hands on the AT&T USBConnect Velocity for $29.99 after a mail-in rebate and a new two-year DataConnect contract of at least $35 a month. These devices are available at AT&T retail stores, business channels and also online.
