Fujitsu Siemens has launched a new Scenicview Premium Line Eco range of monitors which the company claims are the world’s first zero-watt monitors. The eco-friendly monitors switch off completely in power-save mode thus cutting down the power consumption.
The patent-pending innovation is based on a new switch in the monitor that shuts it down completely when the computer signal is not present and turns it on again when the signal reappears. The company claims that with technology, the monitor saves several euros per year in power costs.
The Scenicview Eco monitors are available in 20-inch P20W-5 ECO and 22-inch P22W-5 ECO models. Both monitors feature 1,680 x 1,050 resolution, a response time of 5 millisecond response time and an HDMI interface.
The Fujitsu Siemens P20W-5 ECO and P22W-5 ECO are expected to hit the European market in September 2008.
