With times having changed so much, it’s impossible not to give in to the demands of kids to get their own smartphones. But with that comes the added burden of making sure they are using their devices responsibly, and not falling for things that might get them into trouble. SpyMyFone is an app that ensures you’re always in the know of what is happening on their phones. Most of the conversations these days happen on instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, and SpyMyFone lets you easily monitor those messages from your own device, apart from many other things. Let us take you through the process of setting up your devices so that you can spy WhatsApp messages on your kids’ phones.

Creating an account
You need to start off by creating an account of your own. For that, you can visit SpyMyFone.com and hit the Sign Up option. You will need to enter your email id and create a password, and you’ll be good to go. The next screen will ask you whether you wish to monitor an Android device or an iOS device. Once you’ve made the choice, you’ll be shown the payment options. The service’s Premium version costs $29.99, while the Ultimate version, which has a few bonus features, costs $39.99. You can make the payment here, and proceed to the next step.

The next thing you need to do if you wish to understand how to monitor WhatsApp messages on your kids’ phones, is to install the SpyMyFone app on their device. If it’s an Android device, there are a few things you need to do before you can begin this process. Since the app is delivered in the form of an APK, you need to enable the “install apps from this source” option for whatever browser you’ll be downloading it from. With that done, you will need to now visit fonetrace.com from the same phone, and download and install the APK.

Activating the app
Once installed, find the app in the drawer and open it. After agreeing to the privacy policy, you’ll be prompted to sign in with the account that you created in the first step. You will now be prompted to disable Google Play Protect, a feature in Android phones that prevents data from being accessed by other devices. But since we’re trying to do exactly that for the benefit of our kids, we need to disable this by going into Settings > Security > Google Play Protect and clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner. Now disable both the toggles in order to proceed.

Back in the SpyMyFone app, you can go ahead and provide it with all the other permissions required for the app to render its features. At the end of it all, it will provide you with an option to either hide its icon or keep it visible in the app drawer. This depends on whether you want your kids to know that they are being spied on.

Viewing the WhatsApp messages remotely
SpyMyFone Dashboard
Now that the target device is set up, you can return it to your kids, and easily keep track of whatever messages they are sending via WhatsApp. For this, you will need a laptop or a computer. Open the browser, and head to the SpyMyFone website to view your dashboard. This is where every activity of that device will be clearly visible to you. The menu to the left has the WhatsApp section, which gives you a detailed view of all the conversations that are happening on the phone.

Setup for iOS devices
Setting up iOS devices for spying is a simple process. All you need is your kids’ iCloud credentials. You can enter those on the SpyMyFone website’s dashboard and you’re good to go.

Other features
SpyMyFone Features
SpyMyFone lets you monitor a lot more than just WhatsApp messages. It lets you see call logs, SMSs, live locations, browser history, calendar events, documents, and many other things. Another useful feature is GeoFences, with which you can set geographical boundaries for your kids. If they cross them, you are immediately informed about the same. A feature called Clue keeps recently deleted stuff available for you to view. So you can read deleted messages, deleted numbers and even deleted photos.

Like we said, SpyMyFone is a program meant to spy on your kids if you suspect that they are getting into things they should not be getting into. We’d always recommend its use with the consent of your kids, and would never recommend its use with adults.
