The titles presented here are defined by their best campaigns that are bound to keep you busy for hours on the trot. Certainly though, this roster will be a debatable one since there are tons of great titles that are eligible to be included in it. We however, have focused on recent ones and can guarantee that they will all provide exciting gameplay. So without any more discussion, let’s have a look at them.
1. Dishonored –
Dishonored is a stealth title that can be handled from the first-person perspective. Developed by Arkane Studios, it lets you assume the role of a skilled assassin who possesses supernatural abilities. Its main high-point lies in its non-linearity and the fact that it can be played in so many different ways thanks to its sandbox nature.
Moreover, other aspects such as its Steampunk visuals and a catchy story easily manage to keep you hooked. It can be purchased now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim –
If there’s one title that stands for everything RPG, it has got to be The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda Studios’ 2011 offering lures you into its surreal experiences with utmost ease owing to its amazing visuals and music.
But those cannot be the only qualities that can thrust it into our list, can they? This PS3, Xbox 360 and PC title, at its core, is an incredibly addictive title featuring unmatched role-playing brilliance.
3. XCOM: Enemy Unknown –
Some of you might remember the yesteryear classic UFO: Enemy Unknown which is considered a cult title now. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is nothing but a modern re-imagining of the said title, but with completely different templates.
It is a turn-based strategy title with a campaign that has you defending the Earth against the onslaught of alien creatures. It sells now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
4. Journey –
Journey is a PS3-exclusive which presents you with dreamlike experiences that will most definitely make you fall in love with it. It’s one of the most sought after title to have come out last year. Simplistic as it is, the title features a robed figure traversing a vast desert in search of a distant mountain.
Despite the absence of dialogue, the title speaks with you at every step solely through the mind-boggling experiences it provides. It is a must-have for any PS3 owner.
5. Far Cry 3 –
Our next pick for the compilation is Ubisoft’s recent first-person shooter which managed to grab a lot of attention late last year; and deservedly so, as the title is a winner in all aspects it tries to explore. Available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, it tells the story of a bunch of teenagers who enter a remote and mysterious island where they are captured by pirates.
You take on the role of Jason Brody, who escapes their captivity, and must now free his other friends. Far Cry 3 is an open world offering, and thus grants you lots of stuff to do when you’re not indulging in its campaign.
6. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception –
If third-person shooters are what you love to indulge in, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is something you can’t afford to give a miss. It is a title that kicks in a thoroughly engaging campaign, full of outstanding sequences and incredible playability.
It tells the story of protagonist Nathan Drake’s and his mentor Victor Sullivan’s around-the-world travels in search of the legendary lost city, Iram of the Pillars.
7. The Walking Dead –
You might recognize this name as the hit TV series on air right now. Although the offering is set in the same universe as the show, its story has nothing to do with that of the show. It is actually an adventure title revolving around a poignant tale of a few survivors trying to escape a zombie apocalypse. The title connects with you emotionally by asking you to make crucial decisions every now and then.
And it is based on these choices that the remaining story is tailored. It can be purchased through retail as well as in downloadable form for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and iOS devices.
8. Halo 4 –
Halo 4 is a title with strong roots that were established by its predecessors. It was therefore that fans were anticipating it with enormous expectations. And developer 343 Industries managed to fulfill them with finesse.
Its campaign is a rich experience, making it an undoubted entry to this collection. It can only be bought for the Xbox 360.
9. Mass Effect 3 –
This title is a near-perfect marriage of the third-person shooter and RPG genres. It thrusts you into the shoes of the only person who can save the entire galaxy from the attack of an ancient alien race known as the Reapers. Available now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U, it is part of a trilogy, and provides a fitting end to it.
Mass Effect 3 has you taking decisions that affect the future of the entire galaxy, and that’s one of the things that make it the incredibly addictive title that it is.
10. Sleeping Dogs –
It will be safe to say that Sleeping Dogs is a GTA title set in Hong Kong. Despite this fact, it is a completely different title than the said. Its open world is an inviting one, but the story itself is also something that you won’t be able to stay away from.
Sleeping Dogs focuses on an undercover operation that’s aimed at infiltrating the Triads. It can be bought for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Those are all our humble submissions to this set of the best single player games.
