As with past iPods, Apple’s newly unveiled iPhone has also inspired a new generation of equally unique and classy accessories. One of the first headphones announced for the revolutionary iPhone was the V-Moda Vibe Duo. We were lucky to get a chance to review it.
The features of the V-Moda Vibe Duo headphones match up to its classy design. They also offer dual compatibility with both the iPhone and all iPods. But, these earphones are also compatible with CD players and ordinary MP3 players as it features a 3.5mm jack.
A great feature of the Vibe Duo headphones is that they sport a sleek in-line hands-free microphone, allowing you to make and receive phone calls without having to remove them.
The design of the V-Moda Vibe Duo headphones is quite unique and minimalist. First off, the in-ear ear buds themselves have a glossy black shell which is banded by a shiny, textured metal. They fit snuggly into the ear canal, blocking out external noises.
V-Moda has done good by providing abundant silicon earpiece options to suit everyone’s needs. These include six pairs of earpieces that include three different sizes and two colors.
The cord of the Vibe Duo headset is actually a new fabric-coated cable, rather than the conventional plastic-coated ones. The cord also houses a plastic clip that keeps the cables and microphone close to your neck. This cord is quite long and is thus easily able to reach into the lowest pockets of your pants!
On the whole, this unique design of the V-Moda Vibe Duo headphones offers a light-weight option when compared with other earphones. Not only that; the Vibe Duo’s cloth-coated cable is somewhat tangle-free.
The Vibe Duo headphones offers very good sound quality as the earphones exude vibrant bass, vivid mid-range and vivacious highs. Moreover, the solid alloy composition of the earphones creates a sculpted sound curve that music lovers will thoroughly appreciate.
Adding to the amazing audio quality is the Vibe Duo’s Noise-isolating (BLISS) technology that reduces ambient noises and further enables deep bass.
As this pair of earphones have been made to work with the iPhone, the audio quality of phone calls would be equally important. The sound quality during calls is good, although V-Moda could have considered placing call answering buttons as part of the headset’s design. However, due to the absence of this feature, the user is required to remove his or her iPhone and manually answer the call. Let’s hope V-Moda adds on some call answering buttons in the next-generation of Vibe Duo.
Available for $100 (Rs.4021), the V-Moda Vibe Duo headphones come bundled with a smart-looking black leather carry case. This compact case will definitely be appreciated by the fashion-conscious at heart.
There seem to be only a few drawbacks of the V-Moda Vibe Duo headset. Firstly, the in-built microphone does not offer noise cancellation technology, making it difficult for the person on the other end to understand what you are saying. However, this con only stands true when you are perhaps stuck in traffic or some other noisy environment.
Another negative for the Vibe Duo seems to be the lack of call answering and music control buttons on the earphone’s cord. Lastly, the Vibe Duo Earphones do not have a microphone button.
Our Shout: We give the V-Moda Vibe Duo Earphones 7 out of 10 because of the few negatives that we mentioned earlier. At the same time, these earphones perfectly complement the whole look and feel of Apple’s iPhone and iPod besides providing good sound quality. So, if you are tired of using those same old white earphones, V-Moda’s Vibe Duo earphones are the way to go!
