Facebook’s new feature allows live video broadcasts, but only if you’re a celebrity

Celebrities have it easier always; even with cool Facebook features like the new ability to host live video broadcasts. Yes, this fresh trait has been rolled out by the social networking giant and has been limited to the Mentions app which has specially been designed for verified public figures using Pages.

Facebook Live hence sounds like a great way for athletes, musicians, politicians and other influencers to keep in touch with their fans in a more personal way. They can take their fans behind the scenes of their activities, host question-and-answer sessions as well as share announcements. And all this will be in real time; in case you’ve missed the hoopla.

As a user, you can comment, like and share on these video broadcasts which will appear in your News Feeds if you’ve subscribed to updates from a particular public figure’s Page. Celebrities will be able to see your comments in the form of a live stream, and can even choose to respond to some of them if they wish to.
