Not a lot of apps support the 3D Touch functionality of the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus models yet, but Facebook has just been added to the list of apps that do. An update to the utility enables users to quickly access the main functions of the social network by pressing harder on its icon.
Facebook’s 3D Touch functionality opens up a menu that features three main options. While one allows you to click a photo or capture a video, the other two let you upload a photo or a video and write a post.
As pointed out by Engadget, Facebook has now joined a select few third-party apps that have taken advantage of the unique display present on the fresh iPhone 6S smartphones. The newest version of the social networking giant’s iOS app is live now on the Apple App Store.
For those unaware of 3D Touch, it’s a technology that allows the display of an iPhone to not only register touch but also pressure. So, while tapping the icon will usually open an app, pressing on it harder will let you peek inside it or even access its main functions much quicker than normal.
This trait is only present on the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus models. These handsets were unveiled by the company last month, and are already selling like hotcakes in crucial markets from around the globe. They improve upon their predecessors with faster processors, better memory, highly improved cameras and more.
