Ericsson IPX to provide Mobile Payment, Messaging service to 8 Indian Operators

Ericsson Logo Ericsson has announced that it will soon provide its global Internet payment Exchange (IPX) payment and messaging service to eight network operators in India. This will enable Indian as well as international content providers to reach the growing number of subscribers in the country.

Basically, Ericsson’s Internet Payment Exchange enables the payment and distribution of mobile content. At the same time this service will seamlessly interconnect content providers and mobile operators.

IPX will handle the payments by making use of the existing billing relationship between operators and consumers.

Under this deal, Ericsson IPX will provide its services to eight network providers in India namely Bharti Airtel, reliance Communications, Bharat Sanchar Nigam, Vodafone Essar, Aircel, MTNL Delhi, TATA Teleservices and Idea Cellular.

Using this service, mobile subscribers in India will be able to purchase mobile multimedia content like games, music, wallpapers and ringtones from mobile content companies in a very secure manner.

The payment will be handles in a very safe and seamless process between the mobile phone users, content provider and network operator.
