YouTube to offer 3,000 movies for rent

YouTube Movies

We seem to have advanced quickly from those days of simply having a pair of earphones dulling down ambient noises while on the move to videos taking up half our attention. In a move calculated to make the entertainment buff’s heart feel new love for online video sources, the official YouTube blog has announced that they will soon be offering no less that 3,000 new movies for rent.

YouTube Movies is set to cover a wide range of flicks from cult classics to new releases courtesy of major Hollywood studios. Some of the titles up for rent will include The King’s Speech, Caddyshack, Goodfellas, Little Fockers, Despicable Me, Inception, Scarface and Taxi Driver among numerous others. Movies that are rented out can be watched with a particular YouTube account on just about any PC.

If the promo is to be interpreted rightly, users may be able to enjoy these videos on mobile devices too. The company plans to keep adding more titles as the approaching weeks unfold. But it’s not just the movie watching experience that is being focused upon here. Movie pages surface Rotten Tomatoes reviews, free behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, parodies and so on and so forth.

Sadly, this new facility is something that only viewers in the U.S. can take advantage of.
