eBay and PayPal expand Protection Measures and offer Incentive to Sellers

eBay PayPal Logo At the seventh eBay Live! community conference, eBay and PayPal has announced to improve protections for buyers and sellers dealing on eBay.com. The new security features are expected to be available by later this year.

PayPal said that for the first time it will offer the protection to the buyers who pay for 100 percent of an item’s purchase price, without any coverage criteria. Moreover, even eBay sellers will receive improved seller protection for eligible transactions when they will be paid with PayPal.

“We’re combining the power of eBay and PayPal to give all buyers and sellers more confidence and trust,” said Lorrie Norrington, eBay’s president, Marketplace Operations. “Buyers who pay with PayPal on eBay will be covered, with no limits, on most transactions. Any seller who gets paid with PayPal will be covered on most transactions, too, and can ship to 190 countries worldwide where PayPal is accepted.”

Through the PayPal Buyer Protection, buyers will be protected against the items that aren’t received and for items that are significantly not as described. Moreover, the coverage limit will be removed from this Fall. This move is expected to encourage buyers to purchase from eBay through PayPal.

Not only buyers but also sellers will be protected through the new protection strategies. PayPal’s improved seller protection protects sellers against claims, chargebacks and reversals due to an unauthorized payment or an item that was not received. Also US based sellers can now ship their products to buyers located in 190 markets worldwide where PayPal is accepted. Besides, PayPal has said to remove annual coverage cap.

Furthermore, eBay has announced eBay Live! incentives and rewards for its best PowerSellers. eBay has announced a discount program for sellers who constantly offer best of the services to consumers. The sellers offering best consumer experiences will receive 20 percent off their Final Value Fees, which are the commission eBay charges sellers for sold items. Sixteen percent of PowerSellers immediately qualify for the discount that will appear on July invoices.

Also deeper UPS shipping discounts were announced for PowerSellers which would be add-on to the saving introduced last year. PowerSellers will receive an extra 23 percent off already reduced Daily rates for ground shipping by UPS.
