The Nokia X AOSP-based smartphone has officially been launched in India as was expected and interested users will have to part with a wallet-friendly sum of under Rs 9000 to lay their hands on the device. An event was held in the country today to slide the covers off the first Android smartphone from Nokia.
The gadget had shown up on an online retailer’s website only last week for almost the same price. It was released at the MWC along with its siblings, the Nokia X+ and XL, but these phones have not been brought to India as yet. All of these devices are based on a highly customized version of the Android OS called the Nokia X software platform 1.0.
Moreover, the Nokia device which has been loaded with multiple Microsoft services, is completely compatible with all Android applications. The affordable smartphone adopts a compact form factor that can accommodate a touchscreen of 4 inches on the front side. This capacitive LCD display has a 480 x 800p resolution and a pixel density of 233ppi.
It features dual SIM card slots and sports a 3MP camera which can come in very handy for clicking pictures and recording movies. A dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor ticking at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM and a 1500mAh battery keep the device up and going. The smartphone’s 4GB onboard storage is expandable by up to 32GB using a microSD card.
The Dual SIM Nokia X hits store shelves today for Rs 8,599 in India.
