Dell’s Latitude 7285 2-in-1 is all set to change up the world of hybrid laptops by being the first to support truly wireless charging. The addition of the technology would mean the end of carrying around bulky cables and finding a port to fit them in.
The Latitude 7285 2-in-1 is a detachable device that can be used as a tablet or laptop. The wireless charging model is in fact one of three keyboard options. One is a slim travel keyboard and the other a productivity keyboard that delivers 4 more hours of battery life to the existing 6, in addition to a more desktop-like key travel.
As for the cord-free keyboard, Dell’s infused it with WiTricity’s magnetic resonance wireless charging technology. Users will have to utilize it with a separate charging mat and WiGig wireless dock to take advantage of its abilities. Unfortunately, Dell hasn’t revealed price or specs details for the offering yet.

It plans to do so at the Dell EMC World event in May 2017. The brand says that the laptop and its wireless charging accessories will hit availability in the same month. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of response the hybrid device elicits from consumers. While carrying around cables is annoying, a charging mat might not be ideal either.
The Latitude 7285 2-in-1 comes across as more of a convenient desk solution in which the mat is left in one spot. Other than the laptop, Dell also announced a slew of other products at CES 2017 such as the upgraded XPS 15, UltraSharp 32 Ultra HD 8K Monitor, and Precision AIO.
