Android fans in China are set to witness a new addition to the current smartphone offerings in the country now that the Dell Streak Pro is headed that way. What’s more, this handset is coated with the Baidu-Yi mobile platform that is integrated within Google’s OS.
Featuring a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm processor, this 3G+ enabled phone wraps in a Super AMOLED display that spans over 4.3 inches diagonally and portrays a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. And to compliment the multi-touch screen, the company has also coated the device with Corning Gorilla Glass for added protection.
“We paired solid hardware with the flexible Baidu-Yi mobile platform developed by Baidu to meet the needs of Chinese customers. The new mobile platform integrates some of the core Baidu services that customers in China already use, like the popular Ting music service for example. Many of these make use of the ‘localized’ cloud services that are part of the mobile OS platform,” expressed Hangean Luo, Director of Mobility Content and Ecosystem Asia Pacific at Dell.
The smartphone is stated to be the first of its kind to run on the Baidu-Yi mobile platform that’s built based on the Android OS. The official Dell Corporate blog states that the handset comes integrated with certain Baidu services that are already available in the country including Ting music. Additionally, this newly unveiled device will take its place besides the Dell Streak 10 tablet which debuted a few months ago.
The Dell Streak Pro release date and price aren’t disclosed as yet by the company. The smartphone is slated to go on sale through China Unicom via the company’s online store and other channels.
