The 15-inch and 17-inch Dell Precision M4700 and M6700 mobile workstations aimed towards engineering and design professionals have landed in the US. What’s more, the Round Rock-based company has also brought forth a M6700 Covet Edition featuring a 17-inch display coated with edge to edge Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and a phoenix red color finish.
The newly unveiled desktop replacements are equipped with the latest generation Intel Core processors, namely the i5, i7 and Extreme Edition CPUs proffering Turbo Boost. Potential buyers can also choose between graphics from the Nvidia Quadro K-series or AMD FirePro. The former GPU lineup packs in support for 3D Vision Pro which transforms applications into full stereoscopic 3D in real time.
“Our new family of mobile workstations offer uncompromising performance, dependability and design,” states Kirk Schell, vice president of Computing Products, Dell. “We are continuing to build on our heritage of developing innovative workstation technology by offering the first NVIDIA 3D Vision Pro solution, Gen 3 graphics and 1866MHz memory in a mainstream mobile workstation, enabling our customers to bring their creative and design work to life fast regardless of their location.”
For running memory-intensive applications and tools, Dell is offering up to 32GB of DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz or 16GB at 1866MHz. The Dell Precision M4700 is configurable with up to 1.8TB of storage, while the M6700 can go all the way up to 2.8TB of total hoarding capacity. Additionally, users will also have the option to throw in a 512GB SATA3 SSD. Other features include USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, an eSATA/USB combo port and 3 integrated video sockets for VGA, HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2 inputs.
The Dell Precision M4700 and M6700 price tags start at $1,649 and $2,199, respectively, while the M6700 Covet Edition retails for $3,579. All 3 mobile workstations are available for purchase in the US.
