After tweaking the Alienware gaming laptops with the latest Ivy Bridge, the company decided to give an internal makeover to another series and has come up with the Dell Inspiron 14R and 15R Special Edition notebooks. The third generation Intel portfolio from the company is not limited to these portable computers, it also includes the Dell Vostro and XPS desktops.
The laptops arrive encapsulated in sleek form factors and are constructed using durable anodized aluminum. The multimedia features coupled with the enhanced audio rendering capability add to the entertainment experience and they can easily be used to keep in touch with family and friends on the move. Both variants are fueled by the third generation Intel Core i7 processors and the 14R has also been incorporated with the Nvidia GeForce GT 640M GPUs to deliver decent graphics.
“We’re enhancing our Inspiron line-up to give multimedia buffs optimized audio and more features for an improved entertainment experience,” quoted Sam Burd, vice president and general manager of product development for Dell.
The revamped versions of the R edition notebooks tag along a number of other Intel based technologies such as Smart Response and Intel Rapid Start amongst others. They should cut down on the resume time after sleep along with ensuring faster boot ups. As the names suggest, the 14R comes with a 14-inch screen, while the other Inspiron offers a viewing real estate of 15.6 inches. Featuring backlit keyboards, these devices can be configured with mSATA SSDs and HDDs for up to 1TB storage capacity.
The Dell Inspiron 14R and 15R Special Edition price and availability details for Asia have been revealed. The former can be picked up for a starting price of SGD 1,299, while the latter for SGD 1,599. They will soon enter other markets too.
