There appears to be some good news for Apple fans as the Das Keyboard Model S Professional for Mac systems is now up for pre-order. Featuring gold-plated mechanical key switches, the device is said to withstand 50 million strokes, give or take a few.
Designed specifically for Mac systems, the keyboard is equipped with an enhanced 104-key layout, which includes a specific command and option key as well as a few more that provide quick access to commonly used options like the media player and various other functions. Besides these, the device is most likely to help conserve energy through the instant sleep feature that puts the computer into slumber mode when not in use.
“Mac fans will appreciate the high-quality and sharp design of our Model S keyboard, especially now that it provides the features and functions that Mac loyalists are used to and expect from their peripheral devices. Essentially, we’ve introduced the most advanced mechanical keyboard on the market designed specifically for Mac users,” commented Daniel Guermeur, creator of the Das Keyboard and CEO of Metadot Corporation.
When it comes to the embedded offerings, the device is wrapped with 2 USB ports that operate over the 2.0 interface for synchronizing as well as charging iDevices and other gadgets. The 6-key rollover is said to recognize simultaneous inputs of up to 6 keys at the same time, whilst the KVM switch feature allows users to conveniently control multiple computers including another Mac or PC.
The Das Keyboard Model S Professional for Mac price sums up to $133 and it will be available in the U.S. as well as Canada starting April 15, 2012. Potential users can now pre-order the device online through the company’s website with a 15% discount.
