We had earlier reported that the company is working on the Cupcake update and it will be made available as over-the-air push update for G1 users. Android had released the early-look Android 1.5 Cupcake for the developers.

The Android 1.5 Cupcake that was released for the developers recently is now being pushed as an upgrade to T-Mobile G1 smartphone users, reports by Android Community.

Reportedly, this update will be offered to several Android based handsets throughout May.

The Cupcake 1.5 bundles up an on-screen QWERTY keyboard that is apt for the latest Android devices which come minus hardware keyboards. This new version will be seen on the HTC Magic and Samsung I7500 smartphones.

Along with several behind-the-scenes improvements, it enables easy uploads to Picasa and YouTube, says the report. The new JavaScript and webkit engines ensure quick browsing.

The 44MB file will be made available only by the carrier as an over-the-air push update and apparently coming to users in the US and Europe.
