Coolpad’s come out with the Note 5 Lite in India, a cheaper variant of its predecessor with downgraded specs. The handset is set to be sold exclusively via Amazon India starting from March 21.

Interested buyers can snap up the Note 5 Lite at Rs 8199. In comparison, the original is currently available at Rs 10999. The new handset features a smaller 5-inch screen which outputs a lower 720p resolution. The 2.5D curved glass panel offers a pixel density of 294ppi and 70.6% screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, Coolpad’s halved the storage to 16GB but maintained the same 64GB of expandable memory support. Furthermore, the battery capacity’s gone down from 4010mAh to 2500mAh. The quad-core 1GHz MediaTek MT6735CP processor replaces a Snapdragon 617 SoC. The handset gets things done with the help of 3GB of RAM and a Mali-T720 GPU.

As for the device’s photography skills, the Note 5 Lite sports a 13MP primary camera accompanied by dual-LED flash. Even its 8MP front-facing camera comes with its own LED flash unit to light up selfies in the dark.
