Cheaper Wi-Fi-only Samsung Galaxy Camera unveiled

Samsung Galaxy Camera

A cheaper version of the Samsung Galaxy Camera with Wi-Fi only has been revealed, and it sacrifices network connectivity, making it more affordable. It retains all the features of its slightly more socially friendly sibling which was announced towards the end of August last year at Berlin.

For starters, the Galaxy Camera gets the same dual band Wi-Fi connectivity as the original. Even though it eliminates the 3G/4G modem, it spans the same dimensions and subsequently is as thick as the previous model. It should suit those who are looking for a nice imaging solution with wireless capabilities, minus the network options.

Colors

Running on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) platform, it brings a familiar smartphone feel, allowing users to be able to download a variety of apps from the Google Play store. Talk of the device, it seems, went cold after we got word of availability for Canada and it hit pre-order status in India sometime in November last year.

It comes pre-loaded with a few editing enhancements that can be applied to images and videos. These include ‘Photo Wizard’ and ‘Video Editor,’ and account for professional style editing to be done on the device itself, through its 4.8-inch HD clear touch display.

On-device Editing

A 1.4GHz quad core processor ensures that multi-tasking and browsing the web become conveniently quick and smooth. The company says high-speed processing tasks don’t have a significant impact on battery life, speaking of which, the driving force behind the imager is a seemingly small 1,650mAh power unit.

A price for the Samsung Galaxy Camera Wi-Fi hasn’t been specified and neither has a release date. In addition, it’s not known what regions it will come to, although it is expected to be made available globally.
