Cat (Caterpillar) has launched a new rugged smartphone, the B15Q, which comes with the latest version of Android out of the box. The handset is designed to take a beating and also provide high-quality features through some pretty decent specs.
The Cat B15Q is has a highly durable design. The company has dressed it with a silver anodized aluminum body along with a toughened casing. On the front, the device features a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating which protects the 4-inch WVGA touchscreen. The phone meets IP67 dust- and scratch-resistant standards and it’s MIL-Spec 810G certified as well. The phone can be submerged at up to 1 meter of water for a period of 30 minutes max.
Additionally, the company states that it will be able to withstand a drop onto concrete from as high as 1.8 meters and even function in temperatures of -25°C to 55°C. Flaps cover all of the ports to prevent liquid damage and the rear panel looks to be removable. The handset is 14.95mm thick and weighs 170 grams. Powering it up is a quad core MediaTek processor and there’s a 2000mAh battery that can deliver up to 16 hours of talktime or around 25 days of standby.
