Cat S60

Cat is known for making rugged smartphones that are meant to be used in all sorts of environments. It’s now taken this one step further by producing the first handset with a built-in thermal camera. In addition to this cool ability, the brand claims the S60 is also the most waterproof phone in the world.

The 4G-ready Cat S60 uses a Flir thermal camera to detect warmth and measure temperatures up to a distance of 100 feet. For instance, users could utilize it to spot over-heated hardware or appliances and heat loss around windows or doors. The shooter can even see through smoke and help people navigate in the dark since it is able to pick up heat signatures.

This could prove especially useful in situations where using a flashlight isn’t an option. As for its waterproof claims, Cat says the device is capable of surviving up to a depth of 5m for over an hour and its 13MP rear snapper is designed to work underwater. The brand is positioning the phone as an ideal option for adventurers, even asserting the phone can live through a 1.8m drop on solid concrete.

A quick summary of the top specifications of the Cat S60:

– OS: Android 6.0 Marshmallow
– Display: 4.7-inch, 720 × 1280 pixels
– CPU: octa-core Snapdragon 617
– Battery: 3800mAh
– Storage: 32GB, expandable
– RAM: 3GB
– Camera: 13MP rear, 5MP front

Users will be able to view the 4.7-inch HD screen of the S60 under harsh sunlight thanks to a brightness of 540 nits. The touch function of the Gorilla Glass-equipped display is supposed to work even with gloved or wet hands. It’s also been blessed with a 3800mAh battery which should be sufficient to last for hours without a power source.
