Along with the SH-1, the Olympus Stylus series has also been blessed with the new Tough TG-3 which features a truly ruggedized body. This point-and-shoot offering has been equipped with an f/2 lens and is slated to be made available in June this year at $349.99.
The Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 lets you submerse it under up to 50 feet of water, and it works during temperatures as cold as 10°C. It can sustain drops from 7 feet and weight pressures of 100kgf. GPS and Wi-Fi have been crammed into the camera as well, apart from a 16MP CMOS sensor, an f/2-4.9, 25-100mm optical zoom lens and a TruePic VII processor.
New ‘Microscope’ modes on the Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 let you go ultra-macro on subjects as closes as 1cm. For this feature alone, the camera has been provided with a ring light accessory that can be affixed to its lens in order to gain even light on the small subjects.
This shooter has been equipped with a 3-inch 460k-dot LCD screen and is capable of capturing 1080p full HD videos as well. Sized at 111.5mm x 65.9mm x 31.2mm, it tips the scales at 247 grams.
Like we said, the rugged Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 will be made available starting this June at a price of $349.99. Red and black are the only two color options it can be bought in.
