Photographers who feel the need to add something out-of-the-way to their collection ought to take a good look at the Globe-Trotter Fujifilm X-Pro1 case. Meant to be used with the X series by FujiFilm, the limited edition vulcanized fiberboard suitcase has resulted from the strategic collaboration between the two companies.

Invented during the 1950s, vulcan fiber is composed of 14 layers of specially bonded paper which are colored to specification. The product has been finished with tan leather trim, brass rivets and locks. Only 12 of these cases have been released through Harrods. They are said to be handmade on original Victorian machinery at the Globe-Trotter factory in Hertfordshire.

“When approached by Fujifilm to produce a bespoke limited edition case for the X-Pro1, exclusively for Harrods, we were very excited. The combination of a traditional suitcase with the X-Pro1 camera, a piece of modern technology at its finest, is something new and exciting for our heritage brand. As well as this, Harrods is one of our oldest customers, and it is where Queen Elizabeth II purchased her Globe-Trotter suitcases for her honeymoon, so it is always a pleasure to work with them. The sleek and elegant Fujifilm Globe-Trotter suitcase allows the classic X-Pro1 to be transported by photographers in style,” said Gary Bott, Creative Director at Globe-Trotter.

The suitcase is meant to accommodate the X-Pro1 as well as the flash and the filter. Along with this, it can also carry the 18mm, 35mm and 60mm camera lenses as well as hoods for them. Each of these 12 exclusive cases for the Fujifilm snapper has been tagged with an embossed leather ‘Harrods Exclusively’ label and brass plaque.

The Globe-Trotter Fujifilm X-Pro1 price with lenses and other add-ons is £5,695. It is available only through Harrods.
