Here’s some great news for mobile users in India. An announcement from BSNL reveals that it has now launched 3G mobile services simultaneously in 12 Indian cities. The much awaited mobile service has been released in Agra, Ambala, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Dehradoon, Shimla, Lucknow, Ranchi, Durgapur, Haldia and Patna and in Jammu.
While Jammu gets a soft launch of BSNL’s third generation mobile services, in all other cities, the service is commercially available. Besides this, BSNL also revealed 3G tariffs for both its pre-paid and post paid services.
According to BSNL, users will have to pay around 10 paise per minute in a full value plan of Rs 1,000. The company puts up video calls too at an economic price of Rs 1 under the unlimited Rs 2,500 plan. BSNL will be charging users Rs 2 for long-distance calls.
Investing around Rs 27 billion to get its 3G services in India, BSNL promises users high quality voice services along with high-speed data transfers. Offering maximum data speed of up to 2Mbps or more, users can also look forward to amazing video services with BSNL’s 3G services.
BSNL is immediately offering applications like video telephony, mobile broadband, mobile television and video-on demand to users. In the future, users can expect the launch of services like music downloads, video tones, instant messaging, online gaming, bill payment and more.
While the BSNL 3G services are available now in 12 cities in the country, the company plans to soon mark its presence in all district headquarters and other important commercial towns.
