eEye Digital Security has just released its latest version of Blink Personal Internet Security with Anti-Virus protection software. The security company has also announced that it is making Blink Personal available as a free one-year subscription for personal as well as home use in North America.
Blink Personal Internet Security with Anti-Virus is a free integrated Internet security solution that protects users’ systems and personal information. The security software includes the following capabilities:
Multiple anti-virus engines, including protection from unknown ‘zero-day’ attacks:
eEye Digital Security claims that Blink personal is the first Internet security solution to expose system and application flaws that often go undetected and unpatched, even if the users uses Microsoft Windows Update. Blink Personal is also the first Internet Security solution to build a number of protection layers into a small, single agent that is capable of breaking the ‘bloatware’ model of client security that exists in the market today.
According to Marc Maiffret, eEye’s founder and CTO, “The sheer number and diversity of security threats is overwhelming for most consumers. They don’t want to buy an additional application for every new threat, nor do they want to become security experts, they just want a single Internet security product that can protect their personal information. Blink Personal with Anti-virus is the first Internet security offering to include all the protection a consumer needs while allowing for new features to be added incrementally without additional cost. This is literally the last Internet security product a consumer will have to install.”
The software has support for Windows 2000, Windows XP (32-bit), 233 MHz or higher Intel Pentium or compatible processors. It requires 128MB of RAM and 60 MB hard-disk space for installation.
eEye’s free download offer for Blink personal is limited to users in the United States and Canada for a one-year subscription, for one installation per consumer.
