As expected, the BlackBerry Z3 has gone official in India and it’ll be up for pre-order starting today. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 15,990 and the company has announced that Flipkart and The Mobile Store will exclusively offer the phone.
The BlackBerry Z3 is the first smartphone after the partnership with Foxconn and its arrival has been highly anticipated in India. Previous reports suggested that the company would price the device aggressively by making it available for around Rs 11,000 to Rs 14,000. Clearly, this didn’t play out as expected and its current price makes the phone almost as expensive as the Z10 which offers slightly better specifications despite being over a year old.
To make things tougher, the entry-level device will have to go up against the many affordable mid-range phones like the Moto G, Huawei’s Honor 3C and others. Nevertheless, the new BB10 handset is still an appealing device, especially since the company has tied up with Amazon to offer a wide catalog of Android applications. For refresher’s sake, the phone dons an all-touch design with not a single button on the front. The rear sports a 5MP camera and a textured design just like its siblings. And delivering the steam is a 1.2GHz dual core processor clubbed together with 1.5GB of RAM.
Key specs of the BlackBerry Z3:
– OS: BB10
– Display: 5-inch qHD panel
– Chipset: 1.2GHz dual core Snapdragon MSM8230
– Memory: 1.5GB RAM, 8GB storage, 32GB expandable
– Connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS
– Camera: 5MP rear, 1.1MP front
– Battery: 2500mAh
The Rs 15,990 is the MRP for the BlackBerry Z3 and it could sell for a little lower. Remember – Pre-orders start today through Flipkart and The Mobile Store. There’s no word on when the handset will be released.
