Rumor: BlackBerry Z3 codenamed Jakarta is a $150 phone slated for MWC reveal

If all goes as is being speculated, the BlackBerry Z3 could well turn out to be an extremely affordable smartphone which we’ll see being unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress event slated to commence in Barcelona on February 24. This device has been leaked in the form of its front and back renders, and its apparent specifications been placed out in the open as well.

Seemingly aimed at emerging markets, the BlackBerry Z3 is supposed to carry a $150 price tag, according to N4BB. If true, it could manage to eat up sales of the Moto G smartphone which is doing quite well with its impressive package of specs. Quite a simple design approach has been taken by the Canadian brand, as can be observed from the leaked images.

BBin has furthermore released the rumored specifications of the BlackBerry Z3 as well. The handset is said to grab a 5-inch 540 x 960 pixel LCD display and a 1.2GHz dual core processor. 1.5GB worth of RAM and 8GB worth of storage can also form part of its offerings. Furthermore, a 2650mAh non-removable battery, a 5MP AF main camera and a 1.1MP front camera have made their way into it as well, apparently.

The BlackBerry Z3 would of course run the BB10 OS, and there are high chances of a new and updated version of the software having being infused into it. Like we said, MWC 2014 is purportedly the stage on which it’s supposed to be unveiled. We’ll have more on it when additional details are out.
