BlackBerry Z10 spotted in the wild

BlackBerry Z10

That BlackBerry Z10 is the official moniker of the flagship BB 10 phone which is to be revealed this January has been almost confirmed by a recent leak. A picture featuring the apparent handset has been spotted with a few features on its screen that match with the previously disclosed traits of the new OS. The model looks quite different from the dev units which were being doled out by RIM to software makers.

As pointed out by Unwired View, the Canada-based brand may be planning on changing its past naming conventions for its devices. It will supposedly be giving up its original practice of assigning four-digit model numbers, and instead, will be going for shorter nomenclature. The phone that’s present in the leaked image below is from the ‘L-series,’ and is being called the Z10. As can be seen in the picture, it will be coming in both black and white colors.

Handset

Past reports have indicated that apart from a full-touch device, a QWERTY candybar handset is also in the pipeline at RIM. And the above mentioned website seems to have some word on the details of that too. According to it, the retail branding for this keyboard-equipped smartphone might possibly be BlackBerry X10. Word on the Internet is that the device will fall under the N series of models that are to ship with BB 10 next year.

Ever since the erstwhile BBX OS was announced, there have been rumors after rumors about handset that RIM will be manufacturing to run the software. One of the most prominent among them was the London model which had surfaced in the form of images in November last year. Its alleged specifications read a 1.5GHz TI OMAP dual-core chipset, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing snapper. No news about this phone has come out recently.

The BB 10 OS is all set to be launched on January 30, 2013 with its fresh and advanced features that were demonstrated earlier this year. A number of games and other applications are being created for it currently by developers all over the world.

Model

If this new rumor is true, then the said OS could come out through the BlackBerry Z10 which looks quite legit in its leaked image.
