Word of a February 25, 2013 BlackBerry Z10 release date for India is gathering like storm, while another thing that has been rumored for the new handset is a price point of about Rs. 39,000. The device is supposed to ignite the Canadian company’s Phoenician ashes, lifting it out of the mire of uncertainty that loomed over it previously.
We heard about the device quite some time before it was officially announced by the company, formerly known as RIM. While it has been launched in the UK, Canada and UAE already, folks in the US are being made to wait longer, although little known carrier Solavei, promises to bring it stateside much earlier than expected.
The smartphone itself is the meeting of some impressive specs and technology aspects. It sports a 4.2-inch multi-touch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels and will run on the company’s latest BB10 OS. An 8MP BSI sensor camera with auto focus is only the tip of the iceberg. There are several other elements (such as a dedicated image signal processor) working in conjunction to produce crisp pictures and clear video.
The 2MP webcam on the front is capable of 720p video, but has a fixed focus. In terms of performance the device has a 1.5GHz dual core CPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB ROM with support for microSD cards. Its 1,800mAh battery is capable of a claimed 10 hours of talk time on 3G or 13 days of standby.
And if the specs list still warrants sitting on the fence (it shouldn’t really), the operating platform and its many intricacies should help turn the tide. It will include things like ‘Hub’ and ‘Flow’ which in their own right make the experience a lot more interactive. There’s a new BBM which allows users to seamlessly move to other things while engaged in a video chat.
According to NDTV Gadgets, it was earlier speculated that the handset would be officially unveiled in the country on February 24. We even reported that eBay.in had the device up for sale with a shipping date no earlier than today. Going by the latest talk, the smartphone should be available here in both black and white color options.
We’d advise taking this rumor with a proverbial pinch of salt, since the BlackBerry Z10 is only supposed to be launched in the US in March and there’s still no official word on any of these claims.
