A price for the BlackBerry Q10 in the UK has come out and the QWERTY handset is scheduled to arrive sometime next month, although a few retailers have a specific release date. Prospective buyers can pre-order the device via retailer Clove and Unlocked-Mobiles, but the latter has a slightly cheaper listing. Those who prefer Carphone Warehouse can register interest and will be contacted when the phone becomes available. Expansys also gives the option to pre-order, but doesn’t have a purchase fee listed.
The device was announced back in January along with the first full-touch handset from the company – the Z10, and will take advantage of all the features that come with the new BB10 OS. These include BB Flow, BB Hub and others, as well as the swiping controls for easy navigation while using any app. The platform also makes it easy for owners to manage their work and personal stuff on the device.
In terms of specs, the phone will have a 3.1-inch Super AMOLED display with edge-to-edge glass and a 4-row QWERTY keyboard below. Internal capacity amounts to 16GB which can be expanded further via a microSD card slot for hoarding purposes. The 8MP camera on the back is good for geo-tagging and face detection, in addition to auto focus and LED flash. There is even a secondary snapper on the front for the BBM video chats we’ve seen demoed.
Wireless options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and hotspot functionality, while 4G LTE connectivity is also afforded wherever possible. A large battery has been padded in for good measure and the OS makes use of black backgrounds to help extend life between charges. Keeping things running smoothly is a 1.5GHz dual core processor, backed by 2GB of RAM.
Clove, via its official blog, has said that the device can be pre-booked for about £535, inclusive of VAT and expects stock to arrive next month. On the other hand, Unlocked-Mobiles says it is due on April 26 with a £530 tag and that deliveries are scheduled for the next day to those who pre-order. Both retailers list only the black version for now.
The BlackBerry Q10 can be pre-ordered via Expansys, with no information on how much interested buyers will be charged. And as we’ve already mentioned, Carphone Warehouse only offers to inform buyers of availability.
