People who’ve been following the BlackBerry Priv are more than familiar with news about the device coming from unofficial sources, and this is just one more among the many similar instances. While Verizon is still to announce its plans for selling the handset, a unit running on its network has just been spotted on Instagram.
The Android-running BlackBerry Priv is already available for pre-order in the United States, but that model is of no use to existing Verizon customers. That’s because it happens to be a GSM variant, meaning it won’t work with the red carrier’s CDMA network.
It’s hence great news for BlackBerry fans on Verizon that a device meant particularly for the network operator has been spotted. The image comes via an Instagram user named apertura64 (via CrackBerry), and clearly has Verizon Wireless written on the screen’s top-right corner. There’s even a notification reading ‘Enhanced Verizon Store Visits.’
This more than confirms that the Priv will be headed to the carrier in the near future. However, there’s no word right now about its exact price and release date details. The company recently launched a fresh video which showcases the main features of its first ever Android handset.
A quick glance the key specs of the BlackBerry Priv handset:
– Display: 5.4-inch 1440 x 2560p Quad HD
– CPU: 1.8GHz hexa core Snapdragon 808
– GPU: Adreno 418
– OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
– Memory: 3GB RAM, 32GB storage (expandable up to 2TB)
– Camera: 18MP rear, 2MP front
– Size: 147 x 77.2 x 9.4mm
– Weight: 192gms
– Battery: 3410mAh
Rumor has is that Verizon won’t start selling the BlackBerry Priv on its network until early 2016. We’re not sure why the company would want to wait for so long and completely ignore the holiday season shopping rush.
