When price isn’t a problem, luxury devices including the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 that’s soon to hit India, could just be viable picks. The custom-made smartphone in question will arrive in the country bearing a Rs. 139,990 tag.
To craft out this device, a forged stainless steel frame is incorporated along with a leather back cover that’s apparently hand-wrapped, and a QWERTY keyboard. The final result measures 115mm x 67mm x 11.3mm in terms of dimensions. The interface is also tweaked to deliver a rich visual experience through the Porsche Design UI, and to create a distinct appearance from other BlackBerry devices altogether.
“The brand new P’9981 smartphone is a milestone product for Porsche Design,” commented Juergen Gessler, CEO Porsche Design Group. “It is a representation of the iconic Porsche Design styling philosophy and RIM’s technology-driven focus, which combine to deliver engineered luxury and performance in a smartphone for the discerning consumer.”
On the specifications front, the handset incorporates a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. Accompanying the SOC is 768MB of RAM and the Liquid Graphics technology. The front panel flaunts a 2.8-inch transmissive TFT LCD proffering VGA resolutions of 640 x 480p and a pixel density of 287ppi. A 5MP camera rests on the rear featuring 720p HD recording, flash, geo-tagging and 4x digital zoom. A total of 6.6 hours of talktime or 13.1 days of standby can be achieved over a UMTS network.
As stated above, the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 price in India amounts to Rs. 139,990 and it will be available through BlackBerry Premium and BlackBerry Exclusive stores throughout the country.
