AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 is set be available for pre-order starting on April 16, 2013 for a price of $250 with a two-year commitment. About two weeks ago we reported that the carrier in question, along with T-Mobile, had a pre-registration page live so that those interested in purchasing the handset could chose to be notified when it was to arrive.
Now the Samsung Galaxy S4 itself was revealed at a hyped event held at Times Square in New York on the 14th of the month. In the buildup to the announcement, the company hinted that we would see the next S device through a series of cheeky advertisements, which LG even chose to mockingly hop on piggy-back.
The handset features a 5-inch display capable of full HD output (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a high pixel density of 441ppi. It has a 13MP snapper on the back with auto focus, flash capabilities and a BSI sensor for better imaging. What’s more, even the front-facing 2MP camera can record video in full HD. Several sensors have been padded in, with wireless options including an IR LED for use as a remote control.
In the US, the device should have a 1.9GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU so that it will be compatible with LTE networks. 2GB of RAM will come to the aid of the chipset, while internal memory options of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB will be available to buyers. Besides, storage can be expanded by as much as 64GB via a microSD card slot.
And the hardware list is just one part of the story. The suite of software features blows most of the competition out of the water. There will be a scroll and pause ability for reading and watching movies respectively, but users will also be treated to things like Air View, Air Gesture and S Translator. Camera modes will include one which allows using both lenses simultaneously to capture stills.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is starting to show up on various carriers, and those agree to abide by AT&T’s 2-year contract will have to wait some time before they can pre-order the device in both white and black.
