AT&T Samsung ATIV Smart PC

The price and release date for the Samsung Ativ Smart PC in the US have been divulged by AT&T. These details denote that the device will be available for purchase later this week with a sub-$800 retail tag.

The tablet was unveiled along with the Ativ Smart PC Pro and according to the company, it will carry the Series 5 branding for global markets. Here, visuals are delivered through an HD PLS touch panel that spans 11.6 inches diagonally. The device is equipped with 2GB of RAM, while storage needs are taken care of by 64GB built-in hoarding capacity and a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB of memory. A 1.5GHz dual core Intel Atom processor does the heavy lifting. Running the show is the Windows 8 platform that comes pre-loaded. Users will be able to upgrade to the Pro edition of the OS. And since it’s a desktop platform, application designed for Windows 7, Vista and XP should work without much hassle. Microsoft has also thrown in a trial version of Office 2010.

Rear

AT&T will also be offering a set of accessories designed specifically for the Ativ Smart PC. With the Stand Dock, users will be able to access more connectivity features such as a built-in USB port for hooking up peripherals and an Ethernet RJ45 socket. This extension even charges the slate in the bargain. There’s also an optional VGA adapter that enables micro HDMI to VGA support for broadcasting visuals on an external display or projector. And for a laptop-like experience, users can simply attach the removable keyboard dock for quick input.

The Samsung Ativ Smart PC will carry a $799.99 cost at launch. It’s expected to hit availability status on November 9, 2012, through AT&T’s online store. The Stand Dock will be up for grabs at $49, while the VGA adapter will retail for $40.
