The HTC 8X smartphone’s price and release date have finally been announced by AT&T, about a month after the phone was unveiled by the carrier. It is also expected to hit store shelves soon through other service providers like Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile in the US.
Only recently, AT&T announced availability details of the Samsung Ativ Smart PC and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 which can be picked up starting from November 9. Besides these, the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 will also be up for sale in a couple of days and they can now be pre-ordered from the official website. Although the HTC WP8 smartphone is coming via other carriers, the network provider in question will be the only one to offer the 8GB version that is drenched in either California blue or limelight yellow.
Equipped with the 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, the HTC 8X has been deployed with the Windows Phone 8 operating system. It features 1GB of RAM and arrives with either 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage in tow. The device that weighs approximately 130 grams with the battery, measures not more than 10.12 millimeters in thickness.
Its sleek profile supports a high definition 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 multi-touch display of 720p resolution, coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 to keep scratches at bay. A 2.1MP front camera complete with a dedicated ImageChip rests on the front panel for facilitating video conferencing, while an 8MP primary snapper sits on the flip side. The latter employs LED flash and allows users to record 1080p videos or capture clear images even in poorly lit conditions.
The 8X integrated with Beats Audio technology, runs GPRS, EDGE, HSPA and WCDMA networks and has built-in Wi-Fi for internet access if there’s an open hotspot. Wireless data transfer should not be a problem either, thanks to Bluetooth 3.1 and NFC. Additionally, it is embedded with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro SIM card slot.
The 8GB and 16GB HTC 8X from AT&T will be available before Thanksgiving for $99.99 and $199.99, respectively along with a two-year contract and qualifying data plans.
