Asus Zenfone Selfie with 13MP front shooter expected at Computex

Asus’ Chief Financial Officer has already revealed that the company is working on a selfie focused smartphone and a new report suggests that the device will go official as the Zenfone Selfie. The handset is said to be scheduled for launch early next month.

The latest leak on the Asus Zenfone Selfie states that the device will come with a 13MP camera on the front. And there will also be a primary snapper on the rear with the same 13MP rating. What’s interesting is that the company’s CFO, David Chang, revealed that they are working on a rotary design for the selfie phone where there will be a single sensor only which can be moved from rear to the front and vice-versa.

The new details clearly conflict what was previously revealed. Now, there is the possibility that Asus also has a selfie phone with a movable camera in the works and the handset being leaked is another model. Or maybe, the rotary design has been scrapped and we wouldn’t be surprised since Oppo was the first to implement something similar in its N1 and N3 handsets and it’s taking legal action against others using the same technique.

GSM Insider is reporting citing Sogi.tw as its source that the Zenfone Selfie will flaunt the same design as the Zenfone 2 series, but there’s no word about its size. Also, the main camera will be accompanied by a dual tone LED flash and a laser auto-focus system much like what the LG G3 and G4 offer. The recently spotted Zenfone Z00EDB appears to have an unknown sensor on the rear and it could be the new focus system. However, this handset will have an 8MP main camera and a 5MP front shooter.

Computex 2015 takes place next week and so, it isn’t going to be a long wait for the Asus Zenfone Selfie, that’s if this rumor holds true.
