First announced for India back in August 2015, the Asus ZenFone Max has finally been launched in the country priced at Rs 9999. Interested buyers can now pre-order the device through Amazon or Flipkart. Note that the release date of the device is listed as January 15 on the former and January 14 on the latter.
The main talking points of the Asus ZenFone Max are its massive 5000mAh battery and ability to work as a powerbank for other devices via a USB OTG cable. The latter feature has been seen earlier on handsets like the Gionee Marathon M5, which boasts of a 6020mAh battery setup and costs Rs 17999.
Going back to the 4G-ready Asus phone, it is supposedly capable of lasting for 38 days of standby time and 37.6 hours of 3G talk time. The manufacturer has outfitted the dual-SIM handset with embossed leather on the back and Gorilla Glass 4 on the 5.5-inch HD IPS front panel.

Coming to its photography abilities, the ZenFone Max features a 13MP rear camera which focuses on a image within 0.03 seconds thanks to laser autofocus technology. It also comes with zero shutter lag, dual-LED Real Tone flash, a Toshiba sensor, and 5P Largan Lens. There’s also a 5MP front-facing shooter with an 88-degree wide-angle lens on board for selfies.
