Asus now has LTE and dual SIM models of the FonePad

Asus’ FonePad has managed to earn quite a bit of popularity around the globe and after updating the original a couple of times, the company feels that more versions of its 7-inch voice calling tablet are required. At the MWC 2014, a dual SIM model and a variant with 4G LTE connectivity went official.

The FonePad 7 LTE ME372CL retains its 7-inch design, but with high speed data access over 4G networks. The company has also thrown in dual front-facing speakers powered by its SonicMaster audio technology for a rich audio experience. The display here has HD resolution and IPS technology, while the heavy lifting is done by a dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor clocked at 1.6GHz and with Hyper-Threading support.

The second model of the FonePad 7 is the ME175CG that has 3G cellular support and dual SIM card slots. This tablet also has an HD IPS touchscreen that’s 7 inches wide, but the processor has been downgraded to a dual core Atom Z2520 with 1.2GHz frequency. The specs of both slates should remain the same as the normal model. At the MWC 2014 expo, the company also showcased various other devices such as the latest ZenFone smartphones, the PadFone mini and more.

Specs of the FonePad 7:

– Platform: Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
– Display: 7-inch HD touchscreen
– Memory: 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB/32GB storage options
– Connectivity: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
– Processor: Intel Atom

Asus hasn’t provided any price for the latest FonePad 7 tablet and it’s yet to disclose in which locations the dual SIM and LTE models will go on sale.
