Asus has surprised many by launching not three but four smartphones from its ZenFone 2 range in India. At its ZenFestival event in New Delhi, it has taken the wraps off the ZenFone 2 Deluxe, the ZenFone 2 Laser, the Asus ZenFone Selfie and the ZenFone Max.
Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe
The most premium among the new handsets, this one is highlighted by the unique texture on its rear panel. Priced at Rs 22,999, it bears specs which are pretty similar to the ones of the original high-end Asus ZenFone 2 models.
So you’re getting a 5.5-inch 1080p full HD panel covered with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. This dual SIM 4G LTE device from Asus is run by the combination of a 2.3GHz quad core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, a PowerVR G6430 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Android 5.0 Lollipop is of course its base OS. A 13MP rear snapper and a 5MP front camera have found their way onto this handset as well.
Asus Zenfone 2 Laser
This particular smartphone exists in the form of three different variants, and has its retail value hovering between Rs 9999 and Rs 17999. The USP of this device is that its 13MP rear camera is accompanied by laser autofocus for extremely fast focusing of images.
Its base model costing Rs 9999 features a 5.5-inch 720p HD monitor, while the version costing Rs 17999 kicks in a 6-inch panel on its front. These Android Lollipop-running devices from the Laser series are powered by Snapdragon processors.
Asus ZenFone Selfie
This offering has already been launched in other markets; so what’s really important is its price. Asus has slapped a Rs 15999 starting cost on it, and has touted its 13MP front facing camera which is accompanied by a dual-LED flash. The same setup also exists on its rear surface.
Its other details include dual SIM and 4G support, while the 5.5-inch 1080p full HD maintains itself from the main ZenFone 2 range. A 3000mAh battery powers its operations from within. Android Lollipop is again the base OS on this smartphone which comes in the form of two models bearing 2GB and 3GB of RAM and the same Snapdragon 615 chipset.
Asus ZenFone Max
A big surprise at the launch event from the Taiwanese company was the Asus ZenFone Max. The Max in its name wants to point your attention towards its 5000mAh battery. That’s such excess power that the product will be usable as a power bank for charging other devices as well. Unfortunately, it does not have a retail value yet as it’s slated to be released only in October.
It will ship with a 5.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 410 SoC, 2GB of RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop. This dual SIM 4G device will also offer a 13MP main camera and a 5MP selfie unit among other advanced features.
We’ll have more on these new Asus ZenFone smartphones when additional details about them are available.
