Asus Fonepad 7 gets a Moorefield refresh and receives Global Certification

There are one too many Asus Fonepad 7 models in the market and another upgrade is expected to arrive for the voice calling tablet in the next few months. The device was showcased back in June at the Computex 2014 and it has now received certification.

Liliputing has spotted the upcoming Asus Fonepad 7 at the Global Certification Forum website under different models which are obviously specific designs for various markets. The refreshed tablet will come with the latest processor from Intel and we’re talking about the dual core Merrifield that’s on the new Dell Venue 7 and 8 slates, but the Moorefield SOCs that offer a quad core configuration.

The Intel Atom Z3560 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz will be onboard and the tablet is said to run on Android 4.4 KitKat coated with the ZenUI interface. Design-wise, there might not be many changes and most of the components will remain the same as well. We can confirm that the display size will continue to be 7 inches with the same 1280 x 800p resolution.

Dual cameras will be included as well – A 5MP rear snapper and a 2MP front webcam. Apart from this, Asus will also throw in dual front-facing stereo speakers backed by its SonicMaster technology. For memory, 1GB of RAM will be provided along with options of 8GB and 16GB of flash storage. You can also expect to find a microSD card slot.

Asus will launch the new Fonepad 7 under the E37FCG, FE375CXG, FE7350CXG and K019 model numbers. Specific release dates and markets are not available as yet.
