Asus ZenFone 5 Lite A502CG lands in India for Rs 8999

Asus India has announced the arrival of a new member for its smartphone lineup, the ZenFone 5 Lite A502CG, which has gone on sale for Rs 8999. The device is of course, exclusively available through Flipkart online and it comes in black only.

As you’ve probably guessed by the name, the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite A502CG is a toned down version of the ZenFone 5 which costs Rs 9999. For Rs 1000 less, you’ll have to sacrifice on various components. The display used here is still a 5-inch IPS panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, but instead of 720p HD visuals, you get qHD resolution.

The front camera has also been demoted to VGA from 2MP, while the rear snapper is the same at 8MP. And while storage hasn’t been modified, the RAM has been cut down by half, now at 1GB. You’ll also get a slower processor as the A502CG model comes with a 1.2GHz dual core Intel Atom chip.

Design-wise, there are no changes visually, but the new release is thicker at 10.8mm and even heavier at 160 grams. On the upside, the smartphone offers Android 4.4 KitKat with the ZenUI out of the box and the battery capacity has been increased to 2500mAh which should extend the overall activity time by a noticeable difference.
