Asus and Disney bring Netpal Netbook for children

After the LeapFrog PDA for kids, the newest gadget that may enthrall the tiny tots is the Disney Netpal netbook computer. The collaboration between Disney and Asus results into this innovative creation.

Well, it bundles up everything that parents would look for their kids such as safety, ease of use and lots of fun. The unique Disney interface keeps users engaged in computing tasks while it also comes with 40 robust parental control options.

The netbook sports an 8.9-inch LCD display along with Wi-Fi capabilities, Windows XP Home and kid-friendly software with Disney characters and icons.

The device ensures parents a complete control over the online content or emails that their children can access. The easy-to-use Disney Magic Desktop has been specially crafted for kids. Kids can explore several kid-friendly Disney websites. The 2D “gadget tray” shows off bold visual icons that ensure easy access to applications.

“Today’s kids are a digital generation,” said Chris Heatherly, head of Disney’s Toymorrow team and VP of Toys and Consumer Electronics for Disney Consumer Products. “Parents are comfortable with their kids using the Internet, but they want to be assured that their kids are having a safe online experience. The Disney Netpal, designed together by ASUS and our Disney Toymorrow team, is a no-compromise device. There are plenty of terrific features and fun applications designed just for kids, but parents have ultimate control over the experience, with the power to set limits on how their kids are using the PC.”

The Netpal accommodates 15 easily-accessible widgets including stopwatch, digital memo pad and calculator. The 2D menu displays Disney themed browser, email and parental control features.

It comes with stylish designed lids namely the Disney Princess Pink with pink florals and the Disney Magic Blue with Mickey Mouse icons. The 10 customizable themes with popular characters from Disney, add to the fun.

Other highlights include Disney Mix for music and media management, Disney Pix for photo customization and organization and Radio Disney widget. It offers games related to driving, numbers and memory. The keyboard is spill-proof protecting it against liquid spills while data loss is prevented by ASUS’ ShockShield data protection.

The Disney Netpal will be available in two models- the Netpal by ASUS MK90 exclusively through Toys R Us and the Disney Netpal by ASUS MK90H. Both the models will be available in Princess Pink and Magic Blue. The ASUS Disney Netpal has been designed for kids in the age group 6-12. It will be available by the end of next month at a suggested retail price of $349.99.
