Apple Watch Series 4 now up for sale in India

Apple Watch Series 4

The Apple Watch Series 4 has finally hit stores in India. The smartwatch has been very warmly received by critics and consumers abroad, but it remains to be seen if customers in the subcontinent will take to it as well.

The main drawback of the Apple Watch Series 4 in India is the lack of ECG support. The tool is the star attraction of the device, allowing users to keep track of their heart by producing an electrocardiogram. However, it’s only been approved by government agencies in the US till now. As a result, US customers will get a software update to activate the feature.

Apple will need to get approval from India’s government before it can roll out a similar update in the nation. It’s not clear if it has already done this. A quick look through Apple’s India site reveals that there’s no mention of ECG support anywhere.

There are other reasons to buy the Apple Watch though. For one, the screen is 30% bigger than previous models thanks to slimmer bezels. It has a bunch of new watch faces, including one which lets you view 8 complications at once. Fall detection automatically sends an Emergency SOS if the owner takes a hard fall.
