Apple might be getting ready to launch red iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models on April 9 in the US and other markets. It had done the same last year for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as part of its (PRODUCT)RED charity initiative.
Evidence for this comes in the form of an internal memo distributed between Virgin Mobile employees. As per MacRumors, the crimson iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is going to be added to its inventory on April 9, in step with an announcement from Apple. The company will probably roll out a press release for this purpose.
The note also discloses that Apple will be taking pre-orders at first, so shipping and availability may actually begin later in April. There’s absolutely no mention of a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone X, so that may or may not be a thing. There was some chatter of a blush gold version of the phone a few weeks ago thanks to tipster Benjamin Geskin.
He later tweeted that the blush gold color he was leaking might actually be a (PRODUCT)RED offering. His original post included some snaps of a rose gold iPhone X, so it’s possible the color wasn’t deemed ready just yet even as testing on it continues.
There’s even been some talk that a gold edition of the iPhone X is being prepared for release, but the memo doesn’t bring that up either. Also not mentioned is the long-awaited AirPower charging mat which is due for a launch any day now.
