Apple seems ready with MacBook Air refresh, slightly faster CPUs expected [Update]

Update: The new and (slightly) faster MacBook Air is official now. It can be spotted on the Apple website already. What’s more; Cupertino has also decreased the price of both the models by a hefty $100.

Original Story: The Apple MacBook Air line is expected to receive a refresh this week, and if reports are to be believed it will be a comprehensive one. Word on the Internet is that slightly faster Intel Haswell processors are the only thing Cupertino will be focusing on with the new range.

9to5Mac is in the possession of a label that apparently depicts the specifications of the new entry-level 13-inch model. As can be seen on it, this laptop kicks in a 1.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost of up to 2.7GHz. Compared to that, the current 13-inch MacBook Air grants a 1.3GHz processor and Turbo Boost of up to 2.6GHz.

All other aspects of this new range will remain the same according to the leak. This makes it a pretty dull refresh, but as rumors in the past have pointed out, there’s more coming later this year in the form of a 12-inch MacBook Air.

This entry is expected to grab a completely fresh design approach. It will supposedly be thinner and lighter than the current models and will still come equipped with a high-resolution Retina display. A redesigned trackpad is also being said to form part of its offerings.

News about the refreshed Apple MacBook Air could come within hours from now. We’ll have more on it when it’s out.
