Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.9 update to offer iCloud compatibility?

Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.9

That Apple may be planning iCloud support for version 10.6.9 of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard shouldn’t bother anyone in particular. The company is after all known to almost always do something noteworthy for users on older hardware and software when a newer version is soon to come. The leaked upscale to Snow Leopard should arrive around the same time the iOS5 debuts with iCloud in fall.

Not everyone has upgraded their OS to Lion yet. So it only makes sense to expand support to older platforms by making them compatible to latest releases. Users it seems will to have to move up to v10.6.9 of the Mac OS X (which by the way hasn’t released yet) so that they can sync seamlessly through iCloud. MacRumors reports the appearance of the following message post updation of the MobileMe account to iCloud in the .Mac preference pane when using Tiger.

“You will no longer be able to sync with this machine because you have upgraded to iCloud. iCloud requires a computer running Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.9 or later for Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks.”

If at all this update is really in the pipeline, it will bring respite to the plethora of users who can’t update their Macs to Lion. And considering the number of users still running their systems on Snow Leopard is large, it’s only inevitable for Apple to go ahead with this.

While Apple had detailed the iCloud services at launch, every new tidbit regarding it seems more confusing than the earlier one.
