Apple AR/VR Headset May Hit Mass Production In Q3 2023

apple logo 2 Apple’s upcoming (and as-yet-unannounced) mixed reality headset will reportedly enter mass production in October 2023.

“While we expect Apple’s AR/VR headset to be unveiled next week, our supply chain checks suggest mass production won’t start until October 2023, with general availability most likely ahead of the December holidays,” Erik Woodring, an Apple analyst at Morgan Stanley, said, as per a research note obtained by MacRumors.

Next week at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the Cupertino-based company is anticipated to introduce the headset and unveil the developer tools to make apps for it.

According to Woodring, the iPhone maker’s supply chain is preparing to assemble only 300,000 to 500,000 of its AR/VR headsets this year.

Moreover, he mentioned that the upcoming MR headset would have a starting price of around $3,000, and he also expects gross margins to be “close to breakeven at first”, the report said.

Earlier, it was reported that the tech giant is planning to bring “Continuity” features to its upcoming headset.

It was also rumored that the company would bring health and wellness features to its MR headset. Of course, it’s likely that Apple will also pull focus towards games and entertainment for its headset in general.

A lot of “leaks” about the Apple headset’s specs have been hitting the headlines. But considering that there’s been no official hint about such a device in the making, we wouldn’t put too much faith in them.
