There are innumerable PC health monitoring tools for Windows users; however, Mac users hardly have a choice. App4mac has released an innovative tool called CheckUp 1.0 that keeps in check the health of Mac PCs and also monitors the behavior of the computer.

CheckUp features a user-friendly user interface and works with just about any Mac that runs on a PowerPC G4, G5 or Intel processor. Further, this softwareis able to check a Mac computer from remote PC.

App4Mac’s CheckUp software has been designed from scratch using Mac OS X technologies. It monitors the usage of the CPU, memory, disk drives and Network Adapters.

When the scan is running, users will be able to detailed information about all running processes and they will be able to pause or terminate these at any given point of time.

By adding rules that will be triggered when certain conditions are met for a specified resource on the computer, you can receive visual notifications. For example, CheckUp can alert you when a certain resource exceeds a certain value or when a hard drive seems to have hardware failures, even when the application is not opened (thanks to an innovative background process and the use of S.M.A.R.T technology).

Moreover, CheckUp also helps users determine if their computer is able to run Mac OS X Leopard or to determine if the computer has sufficient memory to run all applications simultaneously.

App4mac requires Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger or Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, a PowerPC G4, G5 or any Intel processor (Universal Binary).

As of now, a trial version of CheckUp for Macs is available at app4mac.com. But, ifg you wish to purchase the whole version, then a user license of CheckUp will cost you $49, which can then be installed on two computers. Discounts will also be available for education sectors and volume licensing.
