His life changes when he meets his idol, Inori Yuzuriha, the lead singer of Egoist who is actually one of the members of the Funeral Parlor. This faction is a resistance group whose goal is to free Japan from the hold of the GHQ. Another member of the group is the charismatic and resourceful Gai. Shu is then endowed with a genetically based power that aids in the struggle to reclaim Japan and stop the GHQ from unleashing the deadly virus.
