Android 5.0 Lollipop finally rolled out for Nexus devices, new Moto X and G as well

After rumors of it having been delayed due to a serious bug, Android 5.0 Lollipop has finally begun its journey to compatible devices from around the world, with the first ones among them being Nexus phones and tablets of course. What’s surprising is that Motorola’s Moto X and Moto G handsets are also currently receiving the update.

While the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 which are already on Android 5.0 Lollipop are being granted a small bug fixing upgrade, the Nexus 5, 6, 7 (2012 and 2013), 9 and 10 are gradually receiving the download in an OTA fashion. Don’t be surprised if it takes a few more days to reach your device.

Android 5.0 Lollipop

Google Play Edition and Android One offerings are next in line, but like we said, Motorola has jumped the queue and has started rolling out the Lollipop treat for its smartphones earlier than expected. The Moto X (2014) Pure Edition, which is the unlocked version of the phone, is receiving it right now, while both the global GSM and US GSM versions of the Moto G (2014) are also in the fold.

The 5.0 version of Android brings with it a completely overhauled user interface which is highlighted by Google’s material design blueprint. Its visual flair is accompanied by a bevy of new and useful features which include lockscreen notifications, a battery saving mode, a fresh quick settings menu, a guest mode and a lot more.

Android 5.0 Lollipop

Android 5.0 Lollipop has also been confirmed to be on its way to the LG G3 this week itself. But for now, all Nexus device owners and users of the Moto X and the Moto G should keep checking their gadgets to see if the update has arrived for them.
